Our Mission
Family Advancement Ministries (FAM) Is a Catholic, diocesan, social service organization that, in partnership with the community at-large, nurtures a reverence for life by responding to the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of families with the goal of moving families toward independence and self-sufficiency.
Our Vision
Believing in the compassion of God, we affirm the sacredness of human life by guiding families in need to be hope-filled, empowered and self-sufficient.
Prenatal
FAM’s Prenatal Program offers support and assistance to expectant mothers as they transition into motherhood. Pre-natal support services include:
- § Pre-Natal Peer Counseling
- § Pre-Natal Assessments
- § Pregnancy Tests
- § Resource Referrals
- § Parenting Education classes
- § Breastfeeding Education classes
- § Individual Crib & Car seat safety instruction
- § Maternity clothes (once during 1st or 2nd trimester)
- § Baby Items (as determined during Pre-natal assessment)
- § Post Partum Home Visits
To be eligible or qualify for pre-natal support services:
- § Clients must complete three education classes. (1 Parenting & 2 Personal Finance). To register for classes, contact our Education Coordinator, Rena Waller, at famrena@bellsouth.net or (478) 746-9803 ext. 107.
- § After completion of three classes, client must contact our Pre-Natal & Parenting Coordinator at famkeshia@bellsouth.net or (478) 746-9803 ext. 106, to schedule an appointment for a pre-natal assessment. All clients must provide the following documents during assessment :
- § Proof of Income (if available)
- § Food Stamp (Letter)
- § Social Security card
- § Picture Identification
- § Birth Certificate or proof of age for all children under 6
